Emil Pitkin, PhD is a Lecturer and Research Scholar in Statistics at The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania. He is also the founder and CEO of GovPredict, a company that provides political organizations with valuable technology, research, and analytics to aid in their decision-making processes. In 2018 Professor Pitkin was awarded the Helen Kardon Moss Anvil Award for “Exemplifying Outstanding Teaching Quality.” He graciously agreed to be interviewed about his teaching philosophy and his experience as founder and CEO of a successful startup.
“Wharton doesn’t require students to learn about diversity. There are an infinite number of trainings and workshops on diversity, but unless students prioritize these trainings over other events in the same time slot, a student could graduate from The Wharton School without learning the basic building blocks of securing the future of an organization by ensuring that it is diverse.”
